LINEAGE AND LEGACY

One of the amazing things about the Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu Association is that we are led by an experienced team of Jiu-Jitsu practitioners known as our Council. Comprised of black belts with varying coaching and school ownership backgrounds, these world class black belt instructors range from 1st to 7th degree. Our Council is comprised of professional athletes, law enforcement officers, military veterans, collegiate wrestlers, MMA fighters & coaches, and strength and conditioning mentors; creating an unprecedented leadership structure amongst the jiu-jitsu industry and providing an unrivalled pool of resources with over a CENTURY of martial arts experience to help our Campeão United Jiu-Jitsu affiliates excel on and off the mats.

Master Leão Teixeira

7th Degree Coral Belt

One of the founding members of Gracie Barra as well as the IBJJF, Master Leão Teixeira is a legend in the jiu-jitsu world, and we are so pleased to have him heading our Council. His jiu-jitsu journey began in the 1970's when his close friend Master Marcio “Macarrão” Stambowsky, convinced Leão to join him for a class at the Gracie Academy with the late Master Rolls Gracie

After the unexpected death of his mentor Master Rolls Gracie, he began training with Carlos Gracie Jr., and was promoted to black belt in 1986. In 2017 he was awarded his coral belt from his friends and mentors Carlos Gracie Jr., Maurício Gomes, Marcio Stambowsky, Romero Cavalcanti, Sergio Penha, Marcio Simas and Rilion Gracie.

Having devoted his career to both kids jiu-jitsu and creating the next generation of amazing jiu-jitsu athletes, Master Teixeira has helped develop countless champions and well know jiu-jitsu stars including Hélio “Soneca” Moreira, Ralph Gracie, Marcio Feitosa, Rafael Correia “Gordinho”, Flávio Almeida “Cachorrinho”, Rolles Gracie Jr., Igor Gracie and Marco Joca “Piu-Piu" to name just a few.

Master Teixeira believes the core of our mission should be to create a culture within our schools that focuses on "Educating and Training our students with Determination, Respect and Discipline."
